Portrait of massage therapist Vicky

Vicki has been studying and practicing therapeutic massage since 2003. She found herself at the School of Healing Arts in San Diego that year. Vicki moved out west on a full scholarship to the University of Arizona to obtain her Masters Degree in Bilingual Special Education, but quickly realized she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Her spirit was calling her to the ocean and to new discoveries in the world of healing arts. It was there that she developed a love for eastern modalities, learned to honor her intuition, and trust her heart and her hands. She carried that gift with her as the path brought her home, eventually landing in the open arms of Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, NY. In this safe and nurturing space she expanded clinical and anatomical knowledge in a way that she never thought possible. These two diverse programs have given her a unique ability to hold space on a sacred, energetic level, as well as directly engage the physical body with awareness, precision, and confidence.

During her time in San Diego, she spent several years working as a massage therapist and supervisor for a 17 room massage clinic, while volunteering in a chiropractic office, a pain and allergy relief clinic and acupuncture office to enhance her education. She also participated in a thirty-day, Zen Touch Shiatsu intensive training in Maui, Hawaii, learning directly from Seymour Koblin, the founder of Zen Touch.

Among the plethora of advanced trainings and continuing education necessary in our field, some of her favorites have included:
• Deeper work of the head, neck and jaw with Tammi Sweet (www.heart-stone.com)
• Hospice/Hemi-sync, Reiki therapist (second degree) training with Brian Dailey & Sergey Sorin (https://www.monroeinstitute.org/pages/trainer-brian-d-dailey-md).

Three questions to get to know your therapist:

  • My passion in life is elevating confidence in others to go after their dreams, to keep moving forward, and to bring recognition to the little things that bring joy. My happiness increases when I see that I have brought comfort and ease, or a smile, to another human being . What brings me true uninhibited joy is my 7 year old daughter.

  • My favorite food is greens-n-beans, but Indian is my favorite cuisine, with Thai being a close second!

  • I love watching and feeling the shift in my clients from the time they walk in the door until the end of our session. There is a softening that happens physically, sometimes emotionally, as barriers are let down and the parasympathetic nervous system engages.

It’s a beautiful process, and in these times, quite necessary, as we navigate all that is in front of us.
